The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced on Monday that they have signed Adam Bighill to a one-day contract so he can retire as a member of the team.

Bighill played six of his 13 CFL seasons in Winnipeg from 2018-24, winning two Grey Cup championships with the Blue Bombers in 2019 and 2021.

He spent last season with the Calgary Stampeders, appearing in six games.

The 37-year-old also played for the BC Lions (2011-16), winning a Grey Cup in 2011, and suited up for parts of 2017-18 in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints.

He played a total of 199 regular-season games and is sixth on the CFL’s career tackles list (951). He is second in Blue Bombers’ franchise history in defensive tackles with 430, second only to Greg Battle’s 587.

Bighill was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year three times in his career and was a CFL All-Star six times.
