The Saskatchewan Roughriders have bolstered their secondary with the signing of American defensive back Nafees Lyon.

Lyon, 28, joins the Roughriders after spending the past two-and-a-half seasons with the Montreal Alouettes.

The four-year CFL veteran appeared in 17 games during his time with the Als, totalling 86 defensive tackles, three interceptions, and one forced fumble, also winning the 2023 Grey Cup as a member of the team.

A product of UNC Charlotte, Lyon joins a Saskatchewan defence that has allowed just 23.1 points and 79.5 rushing yards per game, the best marks among teams in the league.

For his career, Lyon has compiled 116 total tackles, five interceptions, one sack, and one forced fumble across 21 games played split between the Edmonton Elks and Alouettes.

The Roughriders (11-4) play host to the Toronto Argonauts on Friday to kick off Week 19 in the CFL, and will look to grow their lead atop a crowded West Division with just three games remaining in the regular season.
