Rourke, Mitchell matchup headlines CFL Week 3 on TSN

Published:

After a shortened Week 1 and 2, Week 3 brings the first full four-game slate of the Canadian Football League season on TSN.

The week starts on Friday, as the BC Lions travel to face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, with last year’s Most Outstanding Player finalists, Nathan Rourke and Bo Levi Mitchell, squaring off.

Then, Saturday brings a tripleheader. The Toronto Argonauts and Ottawa Redblacks get the day started from the nation’s capital, before the Montreal Alouettes look to stay undefeated as they travel to face the Edmonton Elks, all before the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Calgary Stampeders clash in Cowtown to close the week.

Lions vs. Tiger-Cats

This week’s action starts with a bang, as two high-flying offences led by two great quarterbacks meet.

Watch the Lions battle the Tiger-Cats LIVE at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT across the TSN Network, streaming on TSN.ca and the TSN App.

Hamilton comes into this week 1-1, having dropped their opener against the Alouettes before the offence took over and powered the Ticats over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Week 2.

Mitchell has been great to start the season, completing a league-leading 84.1 per cent of his passes for 594 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. He’ll go up against a Lions defence that largely struggled in their season opener last week in Saskatchewan.

Hamilton has had their own defensive issues, as prized free-agent acquisition Wynton McManis has yet to make his debut with his new team because of a knee injury. The Tiger-Cats will hope he’s good to go for Week 3, as they’ll need all the help they can get against a Lions offence that posted more than 400 yards of net offence last week.

Argonauts vs. Redblacks

Saturday’s tripleheader begins in the nation’s capital as both the Redblacks and Argonauts look for their first win of the new campaign.

Watch the Argonauts take on the Redblacks LIVE at 1:00 p.m. ET / 10:00 a.m. PT across the TSN Network, streaming on TSN.ca and the TSN App.

Ottawa comes into this one after a Week 2 bye after dropping their Week 1 contest to the Elks. They’ll look to get more offensively after only putting up 21 points and fewer than 300 yards of net offence against Edmonton. The Jake Maier-led unit will also try to clean up the turnovers after losing two fumbles in the defeat.

The Argonauts enter this matchup after an encouraging loss last week the reigning East Division-champion Alouettes. After 580 days, quarterback Chad Kelly made his return to the field and looked like he hadn’t lost a step, throwing for 445 yards and three touchdowns.

These teams both have a new look to them, and with Redblacks general manager and head coach Ryan Dinwiddie jumping ship from the Boatmen to Ottawa in the off-season, there should be an extra layer added to the matchup.

Alouettes vs. Elks

The super Saturday continues in Alberta as both the Elks and Alouettes will look to remain undefeated early in the 2026 season.

Watch the Alouettes battle the Elks LIVE at 4:00 p.m. ET / 1:00 p.m. PT across the TSN Network, streaming on TSN.ca and the TSN App.

Montreal has been impressive to start the season, claiming wins over both sides of the QEW rivalry in the Tiger-Cats and Argonauts. It’s largely been because of Davis Alexander and the offence’s blazing start, as the 27-year-old quarterback leads the CFL with 777 yards and four touchdowns, while posting a 70.0 completion percentage and zero interceptions.

He’s connected well with his two top targets in Tyson Philpot and Tyler Snead, as the pair sit No. 1 and No. 2 north of the border in receiving yards.

They’ll matchup with an Elks team that is looking to continue one of their best starts of the past three seasons. With their Week 1 win over Ottawa, Edmonton matched their win total (one) through the first seven weeks of the past three seasons combined (1-20).

They’re led by former Alouettes quarterback Cody Fajardo and receiver Austin Mack. The pair only hooked up three times for 26 yards in the opener but will look to fully re-ignite their chemistry against their former team.

Roughriders vs. Stampeders

Week 3 comes to a close in Calgary as the Stampeders look for their first win of the season against the Roughriders.

Watch the Roughriders take on the Stampeders LIVE at 7:00 p.m. ET / 4:00 p.m. PT across the TSN Network, streaming on TSN.ca and the TSN App.

The Stampeders will try to get on the board for the first time this season after a dramatic loss in Week 1 to the Bombers thanks to a Sergio Castillo field goal. It was a big day for last year’s rushing leader Dedrick Mills in that one, posting 112 yards and one touchdown on only 16 carries.

Defensively, the home team may be getting reinforcements, as a pair of impact players along the defensive line in Jaylon Hutchings and Folarin Orimolade may be ready to go after being held out in the team’s opener.

If they’re good to go, they’ll try to slow down Trevor Harris and a Roughriders offence that looked efficient against the Lions in Week 2.

The recently turned 40-year-old diced up BC, completing 83.3 per cent of his passes for 417 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He connected with his big three receivers all night, as KeeSean Johnson and Canadians Kian Schaffer-Baker and Samuel Emilus combined for 26 catches, 387 yards, and all three majors.
