The CFL playoff picture can become clear after Week 19 as the Saskatchewan Roughriders can clinch the final spot in the West Division on Friday.
Saskatchewan is coming off a disheartening 38-13 defeat at home against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Week 18 and face a Calgary Stampeders club that is chasing them for the final playoff spot.
A win over the Stampeders will secure the third seed in the West for the Riders and cause Calgary to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2004.
The Roughriders would then become the visiting team against either the Winnipeg Blue Bombers or BC Lions in the West semi-finals on Nov. 4.
Calgary has an opportunity to move within a game of the Roughriders with a victory and they will own the tiebreak by winning the season series heading into the final two weeks of the season.
Week 19 also provides an opportunity for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to win the West and the Montreal Alouettes to secure a home playoff date.
The Blue Bombers have a Week 19 bye but are on the verge of clinching the West after a thrilling 34-26 overtime victory in Week 18 over the Lions to move ahead in the division and secure season series.
A Lions' loss to the Tiger-Cats on Friday would clinch the division for the Blue Bombers and ensure the Lions would host the West semi-final as the second seed.
The Alouettes can secure home field for the East Division semi-finals on Nov. 4 with either a victory over the last-place Edmonton Elks or a Tiger-Cats loss to the Lions.
Montreal won the season series with their East rivals but a Tiger-Cats win and Alouettes loss will set up a winner-take-all game between the two clubs in Week 21 at Molson Stadium.
