The BC Lions have re-signed National defensive back Eric Fraser to a two-year contract. The team announced the deal Friday.

Fraser signed with the Lions early in the 2015 season and played in 15 games, making 10 starts at safety. He had 36 tackles on the year.

Prior to his time with the Lions, the former first round pick (2010) played four seasons with the Calgary Stampeders and one with the Ottawa Redblacks.

“Eric is a disciplined defender who brought stability and experience to the safety position last season,” GM and head coach Wally Buono said in a team statement. “He’s a big part of the core Canadian talent on our team and it’s good to have him returning.”

“It’s an honour to play in front of family and friends here in BC and I’m thrilled to be back with the Lions,” Fraser said in the team statement. “We have a great blend of youth and experience on this team and I believe we’re going to be a very tough team to play against this coming season.”
