Following the victory, head coach Dylan Smoskowitz and co-captain Kashawn Aitcheson met the media and responded to every question with the team’s motto, “No one cares, work harder.”
“The OHL holds its member teams and their personnel to the highest standards of professional conduct,” the league said in a statement. “The post-game comments in question were determined to be highly unprofessional and represented a disservice to the dedicated media members who provide coverage of the Ontario Hockey League.”
Smoskowitz joined TSN 1050’s OverDrive on Tuesday to apologize for the incident.
“That was my lead,” said Smoskowitz. “It was a decision I regret immediately.”
The Colts rallied to from a 3-1 series deficit in the Eastern Conference Final to defeat the Bulldogs in seven games to advance to the OHL Championship Series.
Barrie takes on the Kitchener Rangers in the OHL Final, which begins on Wednesday from the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium in Kitchener (LIVE on TSN).
