Canada edges Italy in extra end to stay unbeaten at mixed doubles curling worlds

GENEVA — Canada’s Kadriana Lott and Colton Lott defeated Italy’s Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner 6-5 in an extra end Monday at the world mixed doubles curling championship.

The Gimli, Man., couple stole a point in the extra frame to improve to 4-0 and hand the reigning world champions their first loss.

The victory moved Canada into sole possession of first place in Pool B with a 4-0 record, ahead of Italy at 3-1.

Canada outshot Italy 89 to 66 per cent in one of its strongest performances of the week.

The Canadians are one of two undefeated teams at the event, alongside Australia in Pool A.

Canada returns to the ice on Tuesday against Hungary and Scotland.
