Counter Logic Gaming is alive and well on their quest for a three-peat.
The two-time defending North American League Championship Series champions defeated Team Liquid 3-1 in the quarterfinals of the summer playoffs for their sixth consecutive post-season series victory.
CLG jumped out to an early 2-0 series lead, executing ganks at will to force the flow of the games in their favour. Liquid fought hard in Game 2 but could not capitalize on early momentum and came up empty.
Game 3 was a different story as Liquid brought in Phil “Jynthe” Vu in place of Jovani “fabbbyyy” Guillen at Ad Carry.
Jynthe did not make his team regret the decision and rolled to a 7/2/6 KDA on Ashe in his club’s only win of the series.
CLG closed the door as quickly as it had opened and, led by a 10/0/4 performance on Ekko by Trevor “Stixxay” Hayes, finished off Liquid for a second consecutive split.
The team moves on to face Team SoloMid in the semifinals.
