ESL One Cologne 2016 fell short of its 2015 predecessor, according to the event’s viewership statistics.

Despite attracting a successful 31 million hours of viewing online on Twitch, Azubu, Hitbox and Yahoo!, the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major couldn’t exceed the 34 million hours consumed on Twitch alone in 2015.

The length of viewing increased, with ESL announcing a 155 per cent increase in the time spent watching in 68.6 million view sessions. The total sessions were not reported for 2015, however the numbers suggest that there were more viewing sessions last year as well.

ESL says the event in Cologne reach record attendances at the LANXESS arena with 14,000 people coming to the tournament each day - up from the 11,000 in 2015.

Nest year’s ESL One Cologne with take place at the LANXESS arena from July 7-9, 2017.
