Is Riot Games planning on developing a fighting game?
The creators of League of Legends announced Tuesday they have acquired Radiant Entertainment, a studio rich in fighting game experience and developers of Stonehearth and Rising Thunder.
"We’re thrilled to announce Radiant Entertainment—an awesome studio lead by the legendary Tom and Tony Cannon (T&T) and featuring long time fighting game community mainstay Seth Killian—has joined Riot Games," Riot said in a statement on their website.
The plan is to shut down Rising Thunder - a free-to-play fighting game released in August 2015 - and begin working on a new title.
"The talented crew at Team Radiant will remain together once the move to Riot is complete," the statement read, "and will work out of the SF Bay Area on both Stonehearth and a new project.
In addition to co-founding Radiant in 2011, Tom and Tony Cannon were also the masterminds behind one of the largest esports events in the world, Evolution Championship Series (EVO) - founded in 2002.
Killian worked with Street Fighter publisher Capcom from 2006 to 2012 and later worked with Sony.
