Canadians Conners, Taylor make International Team at Presidents Cup

Canadians Corey Conners and Nick Taylor were selected to the International Team for the Presidents Cup later this month at Medinah.

Neither Conners nor Taylor automatically qualified as one of the top six players, but were chosen by International Team captain Geoff Ogilvy Tuesday evening.

Conners and Taylor join Si Woo Kim, Tom Kim, Min Woo Lee, Adam Scott, Ryan Fox and Hideki Matsuyama, who qualified automatically.

Also making up the International squad are Nico Echavarria, Sungjae Im, Ryo Hisatsune and Christiaan Bezuidenhout.

Taylor Pendrith of Richmond Hill, Ont., is serving as one of the alternate captains alongside Trevor Immelman and Camilo Villegas under Ogilvy. Brandt Snedeker is the captain of the American team and made Chris Gotterup his first of six captain’s picks Tuesday evening.

Conners, of Listowel, Ont., didn’t have many high finishes this season with just one top 10, but he made the cut at 19 of 21 events and had seven top 25s. His best result of the year came as a tie for seventh at the Travelers Championship in late June, but he did finish T13 at The Players Championship and T14 at The Open Championship.

Conners will be making his third Presidents Cup appearance after representing the International Team at the 2022 Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow and 2024 at Royal Montreal. He earned two points for the Internationals two years ago.

Taylor, of Abbotsford, B.C., is teeing it up at his first Presidents Cup after missing out two years ago. The five-time PGA Tour winner’s best finish on Tour this season was a tie for ninth at the Cadillac Championship in May.

Conners and Taylor also represented Canada together at the Paris Olympics in 2024, with Conners finishing tied for ninth and Taylor T30.
