Conners, Taylor paired together for Day 2 foursomes at Presidents Cup against Scheffler, Burns

International Team captain Geoff Ogilvy will be sending out an all-Canadian pairing in the first match of Day 2 foursomes at the Presidents Cup.

Corey Conners and Nick Taylor will be the first group off at Medinah No. 3 on Friday afternoon, going head-to-head against world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns in Match 1 at 2:05 p.m. ET.

Conners, a Listowel, Ont. native, was in action on Day 1, losing his four-ball match with Colombia’s Nico Echavarria 4 & 3 to Justin Thomas and Jackson Koivun as the U.S. jumped out to a 3-2 lead after the opening session.

The loss moved Conners’ career record to 0-4-0 in four-ball, and 2-8-0 overall as he begins his third appearance at the biennial competition.

Conners did earn a full point in Day 2 foursomes at Royal Montreal in 2024, teaming up with fellow Canadian Mackenzie Hughes for a 6 & 5 beatdown of Wyndham Clark and Tony Finau. It was Conners’ first-ever match win at the team event.

Taylor, of Abbotsford, B.C., was one of two players on the International side to sit out Thursday four-ball, but will now officially make his Presidents Cup debut on Friday.

The five-time PGA Tour winner will slot in beside his compatriot, while Echavarria will sit out the session alongside Ryo Hisatsune.

Scheffler and Burns were sent out first by U.S. team captain Brandt Snedeker for Thursday’s four-ball session, taking down Min Woo Lee and Sungaje Im 1-up for their first full point as partners after previously holding a record of 0-3-1 at both the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup.

The pair will once again lead the charge on Friday for a U.S. team that will tag in Jacob Bridgeman and Russell Henley in place of Jackson Koivun and Chris Gotterup for Friday’s action from Medinah.
