Three Canadians – Corey Conners, Nick Taylor and Mike Weir – will be in the field at the Masters, where coverage from Augusta on TSN starts Wednesday with the Par 3 contest and continues through Sunday when a champion will be crowned.
The 34-year-old Conners, who is a native of Listowel, Ont., will be looking to improve upon his impressive showing at this tournament a year ago. He was in the top three in the standings following each of the first three rounds before a rough finish led to him finishing tied for eighth.
Over his past six Masters, Conners has logged four top-10 finishes, with his best finish coming in 2022 (tied sixth).
The only Canadian ever to win this tournament was Weir back in 2003. He will be making his 27th start at Augusta this year, though the results have not been kind to Weir over the past decade - he has made the weekend cut just once since 2015, when he finished tied for 51st in the 2020 edition of the tournament.
The 37-year-old Taylor will be making his fourth appearance at the Masters this year. He has made the cut in two of his previous three tries, but his best finish at Augusta was tied for 29th at the 2020 tournament.
Taylor has six professional tournament wins in his career - including a classic victory at the RBC Canadian Open in 2023 - but success at the four major tournaments has eluded the Winnipeg native to this point.
Other big names in the field will include defending champion Rory McIlroy, two-time champion Scottie Scheffler - with his nine-day-old son in tow - and Dustin Johnson, whose minus-20 in 2020 still stands as the best finish in tournament history.
In all, 18 former champions will be in the field at the 90th edition of the Masters in search of the prized Green Jacket awarded to champions every year.
