Jake Sollon (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) carded a front-nine 30 en route to an 8-under 64 and a one-stroke lead over Luis Gagne (San Jose, Costa Rica) after the first round of the Dominican Republic Tour Championship presented by Scotiabank. The top 60 players on the PGA Tour Americas Points List qualified for this week’s season finale at PGA Ocean’s 4, and the top 10 players on Sunday’s final points list will earn Korn Ferry Tour membership for 2027.
Sollon entered the week No. 50 on the points list and his 64 on Thursday marks his second-best score of the season, only bested by his 8-under 63 in the first round of the season-opening ECP Brazil Open. The PGA Tour Americas rookie earned membership by advancing from First Stage to Final Stage of PGA Tour Q-School presented by Korn Ferry last year, and a fourth-place at the KIA Open de Ecuador presentado por Diners Club in May was his best finish of the season to date.
Thomas Longbella (Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin) is third at 5-under 67, while five players are T4 at 4-under, including the No. 4 player on the points list, Patrick Flavin (Highwood, Illinois). Also tied for fourth are Mesa Falleur (Muskogee, Oklahoma), the last man in the field at No. 60 on the points list, and Patrick Sheehan (Doylestown, Pennsylvania), the last man out of The 10 at No. 11 on the points list entering the week.
Jonas Baumgartner (Bielefeld, Germany) and Marcus Byrd (Temple Hills, Maryland) round out the five-way tie for fourth.
