PARIS (AP) — Ryder Cup star Tommy Fleetwood pulled out of the French Open ahead of Saturday’s third round after feeling unwell.
Organizers posted a brief message on the European Tour website saying Fleetwood “sadly had to withdraw due to illness.” No further details were given. The two-time major runner-up was 6-under after his second round on Friday.
Fellow Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick held the overnight lead on 13-under at Le Golf National outside Paris, where the Ryder Cup was staged in 2018.
Jeff Winther of Denmark was one shot behind before they began their third rounds. ___
