The PGA Tour heads to The Big Easy this week for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans from TPC Louisiana as the lone team event on the schedule gets underway on Thursday.

Golfers will be paired together this week in rounds of four-balls (best ball) and foursomes (alternate shot) for an entertaining display of both skill and strategy not seen anywhere else on Tour.

There will be seven Canadians teeing it up in the bayou this week, including two teams made up entirely of Canucks.

Adam Hadwin (Moose Jaw, Sask.) makes his fourth start on Tour this year and will be playing with fellow countryman Adam Svensson (Surrey, B.C.), while Mackenzie Hughes (Dundas, Ont.) and Taylor Pendrith (Richmond Hill, Ont.) team up looking to find a spark to jumpstart their seasons.

Hadwin, now mostly playing on the Korn Ferry Tour after losing his fully exempt status, has had success at this tournament in the past with four top-20 finishes, including a runner-up in 2023 while playing with Abbotsford, B.C.’s Nick Taylor.

The pair fired an alternate-shot record 63 at the tournament in the final round that year, and Hadwin will look for more of the same as he returns to the Zurich for the eighth time in his career.

Svensson, who was able to keep his Tour card this year through qualifying school, made the cut at this event last year for the first time in three starts, and now reunites with Hadwin after the two played together in 2022.

A.J. Ewart (Coquitlam, B.C.) will play with South Africa’s Casey Jarvis, and Ben Silverman (Thornhill, Ont.) is paired with American Cameron Champ for the action this week.

Sudarshan Yellamaraju, of Mississauga, Ont., was a late addition to the field this week, and will look to continue his strong rookie season alongside Ryan Gerard of the United States.

Yellamaraju has followed up his breakout performance at The Players with a T6 at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, a T14 at the Valero, and a T52 last week at Hilton Head.

He has made nine-of-10 cuts on the PGA Tour this year and is now the highest-ranked Canadian on the FedEx Cup standings at 32, with Taylor the next closest in 59th.

Other notable pairings this week include Brooks Koepka and Shane Lowry - who won this tournament in 2023 with Rory McIlroy, defending champions Ben Griffin and Andrew Novak, and brothers Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick.

Matt has recently moved up to the No. 3 spot on the Official World Golf Ranking after his playoff victory over Scottie Scheffler at the RBC Heritage on Sunday, just a few weeks after Alex won at the Indian Open to join his older brother as a winner on the DP World Tour.
