Canada's growth continues at U18 Worlds with overpowering win over Finland

TRENČÍN — Mathis Preston and Beckett Hamilton each scored twice as Canada shut out Finland 7-0 on Monday at the 2026 under-18 men’s world hockey championship.

Ryan Lin had a goal and two assists, while Dima Zhilkin and Adam Valentini also scored as Canada (3-1-0, nine points) finished second in Group A.

Callum Croskery and Keaton Verhoeff had two assists each.

Gavin Betts made 19 saves for his second consecutive shutout, extending his streak without allowing a goal to 192 minutes and 49 seconds.

Pyry Lammi allowed six goals on 24 shots before being replaced in the third period by Oskari Ahmajarvi, who allowed one goal on six shots.

Canada, the two-time U18 defending champion, will face Sweden in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
