Addison Barger homered during his third rehab outing for the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays, as he continued his road back to the major leagues on Wednesday.
Barger was slotted into the third spot in the order and began the game in right field, before moving to third base in the eighth inning.
The 26-year-old went deep in the ninth inning to finish the game 1-for-4, driving in the only run for the Blue Jays in a 7-1 loss against the Bradenton Marauders.
Barger also homered in his first rehab game for Dunedin as they faced the Jupiter Hammerheads on Sunday.
The Bellevue, Wash. native injured both ankles while running down the first baseline on April 5.
Prior to the injury that put him on the IL, Barger struggled out of the gate with a .053 average, a .279 OPS and two RBIs in eight games to open the season.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters on Monday that “worst case scenario,” Barger will be active by Friday when the team opens a series against the Los Angeles Angels at Rogers Centre.
