Blue Jays acquire C MacIver from Rangers for cash considerations

Published:

The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired catcher Willie MacIver from the Texas Rangers in exchange for cash considerations, the team announced on Friday.

To make room for MacIver on the 40-man roster, the Jays designated infielder Tyler Fitzgerald for assignment.

MacIver has played in 14 games this season for the Triple-A Round Rock Express and has posted a .170 average with one home run and six RBIs. Defensively, he has also thrown out four of nine potential base stealers this season.

The 29-year-old has appeared in 32 games at the major league level, all for the Athletics in 2025, and has a .186 batting average over 102 at bats.

MacIver was DFA’d by the Rangers on Thursday.
