Blue Jays acquire minor leaguer Samudio from Royals in exchange for RHP Seabold

The Toronto Blue Jays completed a trade with the Kansas City Royals on Monday to acquire right-handed pitcher Denis Samudio and cash considerations in exchange for right-handed pitcher Connor Seabold.

Seabold was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays on Wednesday after pitching five games with Toronto.

Samudio, 21, has a 4.12 earned-run average over six games (three starts) split between the Royals of the Arizona Club League in Rookie ball and the Single-A Columbia Fireflies.

Samudio was signed as an international free agent by the Royals ahead of the 2025 season.

The Blue Jays are off on Monday before they open up a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Toronto is looking to snap a mini two-game losing streak, and are sitting at 34-38.
