Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Addison Barger is heading to Single-A Dunedin on a rehab assignment, it was announced Sunday morning.
Barger has been out since April 5 after being injured in a game against the Chicago White Sox. Barger injured both ankles while attempting to beat out a ball at first base, but officially went on the IL with a left ankle sprain.

MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson noted earlier this week that Barger’s rehab assignment will likely be short and it’s possible he re-joins the big club during their homestand that begins Friday against the Los Angeles Angels.
The 26-year-old was slashing .053/.174/.105 with zero home runs and two RBI in eight games before going down.
He had 21 home runs and 74 RBI in 135 games last season and turned in a 1.025 OPS with three home runs and nine RBI in 17 postseason games during Toronto’s run to the World Series.
The Blue Jays (16-17) will wrap up their four-game series with the Minnesota Twins at Target Field on Sunday afternoon before heading to Tampa to take on the Rays Monday evening.
