With one game remaining before the All-Star break, the Toronto Blue Jays have made another roster move.
Toronto selected pitcher CJ Van Eyk to the Major League roster on Sunday, with the right-hander being active for the series finale against the San Diego Padres.
Righty Chad Dallas was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move.
Van Eyk, 27, has made 13 starts at Triple-A this season, pitching to a 3.79 earned run average and 1.30 WHIP with 56 strikeouts across 78.1 innings.
The Tampa native was a second-round pick of the Blue Jays in the 2020 MLB draft after three seasons at Florida State University.
Van Eyk made four Spring Training appearances for the Blue Jays this year, recording a 10.13 ERA and five strikeouts in eight innings.
Dallas, 25, was initially recalled from Triple-A on July 7 on the Blue Jays’ current road trip, and now heads back down after making just one appearance.
A native of Orange, Tex., Dallas got into Friday night’s 5-3 win over the Padres, allowing one hit and recording a strikeout in the scoreless inning.
The Tennessee product had previously pitched in June for his only other appearance at the Major League level, allowing one run in 3.2 innings in a bulk role for his first career win.
The Blue Jays close out the unofficial first half of the season with a rubber match against the Padres before heading into the break.
Toronto enters play Sunday at 45-50 and are 1.5 games back of the final wild card spot in the American League.
