The Toronto Blue Jays have claimed right-handed pitcher Matt Waldron off of waivers from the San Diego Padres, the team announced on Wednesday.
The Blue Jays have also transferred left-hander Patrick Corbin was transferred to the 60-day injured list to make room for Waldron on the 26-man roster.
Waldron, 29, was designated for assignment by the Padres on July 29 after pitching to a 7.16 ERA in 32.2 innings this year.
The knuckleballer had spent the majority of the past two years pitching at Triple-A El Paso, where he recorded a 1.33 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in eight starts this season.
The Omaha, Nebr. native was shifted to the bullpen in June, and has a 3.18 ERA with 10 strikeouts over 11.1 innings in his past five appearances.
Waldron is out of options and requires an active roster spot, but is under team control through the 2031 season.
Am 18th-round pick of the Cleveland Guardians in 2019, Waldron carries a record of 9-17 for his career with a 5.19 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 195 strikeouts over 225.1 innings pitched.
