The Toronto Blue Jays have claimed right-handed pitcher Matt Waldron off of waivers from the San Diego Padres, the team announced on Wednesday.
The Blue Jays have also transferred left-hander Patrick Corbin was transferred to the 60-day injured list to make room for Waldron on the 40-man roster.
Waldron, 29, was designated for assignment by the Padres on July 29 after pitching to a 7.16 ERA in 32.2 innings this year.
The knuckleballer had spent the majority of the past two years pitching at Triple-A El Paso, where he recorded a 1.33 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in eight starts this season.
The Omaha, Nebr. native was shifted to the bullpen in June, and has a 3.18 ERA with 10 strikeouts over 11.1 innings in his past five appearances.
Waldron is under team control through the 2031 season, but is out of minor-league options.
Am 18th-round pick of the Cleveland Guardians in 2019, Waldron carries a record of 9-17 for his career with a 5.19 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 195 strikeouts over 225.1 innings pitched.
