Blue Jays DFA Voth, call up Juenger

Published:

The Toronto Blue Jays have designated right-handed pitcher Austin Voth for assignment after he struggled Friday night against the Baltimore Orioles.

Right-hander Hayden Juenger has been called up in a corresponding move and will be active for Saturday’s game, the team said.

Voth allowed five earned runs with five hits and four walks in 3.1 innings Friday night, putting the Jays into a five-run hole. However, Toronto was able to rally and win the game 6-5 to get back to the .500 mark. Voth allowed one earned run in 2.2 innings in an appearance for the Blue Jays earlier this season, putting his ERA at 9.00 in two appearances.

Juenger, 25, has a 3.15 ERA in 17 appearances at Triple-A Buffalo this season. He had a 4.39 ERA split across three minor-league levels last season.

Trey Yesavage will get the start for Toronto Saturday afternoon against righty Brandon Young for the Orioles.
