Blue Jays’ LHP Mantiply elects free agency

Published:

Left-handed reliever Joe Mantiply has elected free agency after being designated for assignment by the Toronto Blue Jays last week, according to his MLB.com’s transactions page.

He passed through waivers unclaimed and had the option of rejecting a minor-league assignment.

The 35-year-old was largely solid for the Blue Jays in 2026, pitching to a 3.00 ERA in 25 appearances with 22 strikeouts in 27.0 innings.

He originally joined the Jays as a free agent this past March.

An All-Star in 2022, Mantiply has played six of his nine big-league seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks. He’s also spent time with the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers in addition to the Jays and D-Backs.

Mantiply has a 4.37 ERA in 281 career MLB outings.
