Blue Jays’ Lukes (hamstring) to begin rehab assignment

Published:

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Nathan Lukes has been assigned to the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays on a rehab assignment, the team announced Tuesday morning.

Lukes has been out since April 24 with a left hamstring strain. He had resumed running the bases prior to being assigned to Dunedin.

The 31-year-old Lukes dealt with vertigo earlier this season that contributed to a slow start. He found his swing a week before the hamstring injury sent him to the IL and improved his OPS more than .250 points in his final six games before going down.

All in all, Lukes is slashing .250/.286/.327 with zero home runs and eight RBI in 20 games so far this season.

The Blue Jays continue their series against the New York Yankees Tuesday night in the Bronx with Dylan Cease taking the mound against right-hander Will Warren.
