Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Max Scherzer was solid in his Game 7 start, holding the Los Angeles Dodgers to one run in 4.1 innings as he attempts to win his third World Series.

Scherzer struck out three and allowed four hits and one walk over his 54 pitches, giving way to Louis Varland in the fifth inning.

This was Scherzer’s third outing for the Jays in the postseason. He previously started in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series against the Seattle Mariners and took the mound again for the Jays in Game 3 of the World Series.

Scherzer allowed just two runs in 5.2 innings in the ALCS, but was touched up for three earned runs in 4.1 innings in Game 3 earlier this week. The Jays would later lose that game in 18 innings on a walk-off home run by Freddie Freeman.

Scherzer came into Saturday’s do-or-die Game 7 with a 3.82 career postseason ERA. He previously won titles with the Washington Nationals in 2019 and the Texas Rangers in 2023.
