John Schneider’s day on the top step of the Toronto Blue Jays dugout is over.
Schneider was ejected by home plate umpire Steven Jaschinski in the top of the eighth inning while arguing a balk call on Blue Jays reliever Jeff Hoffman.
With New York Yankees speedster Jazz Chisholm Jr. bouncing off of second base in a 3-3 game, Hoffman appeared to stop his delivery in an attempt to keep him close to the bag.
Jaschinski came out from behind home plate to signal the balk call, prompting Schneider to leave the dugout to discuss the ruling.
After an initial discussion, Schneider began turning back to the dugout before turning back to continue the conversation and was immediately thrown out of the game.
The Blue Jays manager was visibly heated after the ejection, and jawed with Jaschinski until crew chief John Tumpane stepped in.
Schneider then got into things with Tumpane, before moving onto third base umpire Ramon De Jesus. Blue Jays associate manager DeMarlo Hale assisted in the efforts to guide Schneider off the field while the fans in attendance cheered on the Toronto skipper.
Hoffman would strike out Max Schuemann and Anthony Volpe to escape the inning unscathed.
This is the 14th time Schneider has been ejected in his managerial career and second this season after he was tossed against the Los Angeles Dodgers on April 7 while arguing against another balk call.
