The struggling Toronto Blue Jays announced a roster move on Monday, selecting left-handed pitcher Josh Fleming to the Major League roster and designating right-handed pitcher Austin Voth for assignment.

Fleming will be available for Monday’s series opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Rogers Centre, a rematch of last year’s World Series.

The 29-year-old Fleming last pitched in the MLB during the 2024 season, posting a 4.02 ERA over 25 appearances, including three starts, for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Fleming has a 4.77 ERA over 80 games with the Tampa Bay Rays and Pirates.

Fleming pitched in Japan last season.

Voth, 26, made one appearance this season for the Jays, allowing one earned run over 2.2 innings of work during Sunday’s loss to the Chicago White Sox.

After sweeping the Athletics to open the season, the Blue Jays have have dropped five of their last six games, including a three-game sweep by the White Sox this past weekend, to fall to 4-5 in 2026.

In other injury news, Addison Barger left Sunday’s loss with bilateral ankle discomfort.

Schneider revealed on Monday that infielder Tyler Fitzgerald, who was acquired from the San Francisco Giants on Saturday, is with the team on their taxi squad, adding they would have more information on Barger’s status in the near future.

Barger appeared to suffer the injury while running through first base in the third inning. Both of Barger’s ankles were hurt on the play.

“He stepped a bit weird with both of them, one on the bag and one before,” manager Schneider said. “We taped him up and he tried to go. We’ll see how he is tomorrow. He’s about as tough as they come. Hopefully, he’s all right and it’s just a day or two, or maybe not even a day.”

Barger has struggled in the early portion of the 2026 season, hitting just .053 with a .279 OPS. He was a key contributor for the Jays last season, hitting .243 with 21 home runs and 74 RBIs alongside a .756 OPS.

Toronto is dealing with multiple injuries already, including veteran catcher Alejandro Kirk, who is on the injured list with a broken thumb which will require surgery on Tuesday.

Right-handed pitcher Cody Ponce is on the 60-day IL after suffering a knee injury in his first MLB start since 2021 and isn’t expected to return any time soon.

Slugger Anthony Santander (shoulder) as well as pitchers Trey Yesavage (shoulder), Jose Berrios (elbow), Yimi Garcia (elbow) and Shane Bieber (elbow) are started the season on the injured list.
