The 29-year-old had one at-bat in the game and was called out on strikes. The Jays dropped the game 6-3 to move to 7-12 on the season.
Varsho is slashing .262/.333/.462 with three home runs and seven RBI in 19 games so far this season.
The Blue Jays have dealt with a long list of injuries in the early part of 2026. Outfielder George Springer was placed on the 10-day IL last weekend with a fracture in his left big toe, joining outfielder Addison Barger (ankle) and catcher Alejandro Kirk (thumb), who are also out of the lineup with injuries.
They are also missing pitchers José Berrios (elbow) and Trey Yesavage (shoulder) who are both on the 15 day IL, but are working their way back to the team on rehab stints in the minors.
Shane Bieber (arm fatigue), Anthony Santander (shoulder) and Cody Ponce (knee) are all currently on the 60-day IL.
