Toronto Blue Jays injured pitcher Trey Yesavage is expected to pitch off a mound on Friday, manager John Schneider told the media on Thursday ahead of the team’s series finale against the Cleveland Guardians.
Yesavage underwent left knee surgery last month after suffering a meniscus injury in a start against the Houston Astros on Aug. 4.
Mitch Bannon of The Athletic notes Yesavage will still need more time before he’s ready to pitch in a rehab game, but Schneider is hopeful the right-handed starter can help the team in some capacity before season’s end.
“If it goes good, we’ll see if he can help us out in some capacity,” Schneider said.
The 23-year-old has a 5-5 record with a 3.65 ERA alongside 91 strikeouts over 18 starts and 93.2 innings pitched in 2026, his first full season Majors.
Yesavage quickly made his way through the minors last season before being called up to the Jays in September and was an integral contributor during their run to the World Series.
Entering play on Wednesday, Toronto is 1.5 games behind the Cleveland Guardians for the final wild-card playoff spot in the American League.
