Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Trey Yesavage made a rehab start for Single-A Dunedin on Friday, striking out three and allowing one run in 2.2 innings of work.

Yesavage’s only run allowed came on an inside-the-park home run. He walked one batter and threw 44 pitches, with 30 of them coming as strikes against the Bradenton Marauders, an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Athletic’s Mitch Bannon notes that Yesavage has been taking between eight and nine days between throwing sessions lately during his recovery. The 22-year-old began the season on the injured list with an impingement in his throwing shoulder.

Yesavage rocketed through the minor leagues in 2025, progressing through five levels all the way to the big leagues where he became a key component in the team’s run to the World Series.

In three regular-season games, Yesavage was 1-0 with a 3.21 earned run average and 1.429 WHIP over 14.0 innings pitched. He struck out 16 batters and walked seven.

He went on to start six postseason games, including two in the World Series.

In the playoffs, Yesavage was 3-1 with a 3.58 ERA and 1.048 WHIP over 27.2 innings. He struck out 39 batters, which included setting a rookie record with 12 strikeouts in Game 5 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Yesavage previously set the Blue Jays record for most postseason strikeouts in the American League Divisional Series against the New York Yankees with 11.

Meanwhile, lefty Eric Lauer’s start has been pushed to Sunday against the Chicago White Sox due to an illness.

The 30-year-old pitcher was originally slated to start on Saturday. Left-hander Mason Fluharty will instead take the ball to open things up against the White Sox on Saturday.
