Sonny Gray is keeping an open mind about the Aug. 3 trade deadline.

The veteran righty tells The Boston Globe’s Tim Healey that he’s willing to talk to the Boston Red Sox about waiving his no-trade clause should the team, currently six games behind the Toronto Blue Jays for the final American League wild-card spot, choose to sell.

Gray, 36, is in the final year of a three-year, $75 million deal that comes with a club option for 2027. He was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals this past offseason.

“If someone came to me from the Red Sox and made a decision that that’s the direction that this team was going to go, I would be open for a conversation,” Gray told Healey. “Whatever happens from then, only time will tell. But I would be open for a conversation.”

In his 14th season out of Vanderbilt, Gray has been one of the bright spots on the 31-44 team. Through 13 starts, Gray is 8-1 with an earned run average of 3.12 and a 1.183 WHIP over 69.1 innings pitched. He’s struck out 55 batters and walked 17.

A three-time All-Star, Gray has also previously spent time with the Minnesota Twins, Cincinnati Reds, New York Yankees and Oakland Athletics.
