Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani is back doing damage against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Ohtani returned to the Rogers Centre on Monday for the first time since Game 7 of the 2025 World Series - in which his Dodgers won their second consecutive title with an extra-innings victory over the Blue Jays - and smacked a solo home run to extend his side’s lead to 7-1 in the Fall Classic rematch.
The four-time MVP stepped up to the plate to lead off the top of the sixth inning, and deposited a 2-1 offering from Jays lefty Joe Mantiply over the fence in centre field for his second hit of the game.
Los Angeles would go onto win 14-2 in a blowout, and Ohtani finished 2-for-6 with the homer, one RBI, and two strikeouts.
Ohtani homered three times against the Blue Jays during the World Series, including twice in an 18-inning marathon Game 3, where he reached base nine times to set a new Postseason record.
The Japanese import also homered in Los Angeles’ game on Sunday against the Washington Nationals, and has now homered in three of his last four contests after failing to leave the yard in each of his first six games of the year.
Ohtani has slashed .273/.395/.485 with four home runs, seven walks, and eight RBI to begin the 2026 season.
He also added six shutout innings with just one hit, three walks, and six strikeouts on the mound in his first start of the year against the Cleveland Guardians on March 31.
The two-way star will get the ball on Wednesday against the Blue Jays in the series finale.
Los Angeles has picked up right where they started following the World Series, and are tied for the best record in the Majors at 8-2.
