The San Francisco Giants are recalling left-handed pitcher Matt “Tugboat” Wilkinson from Triple-A Sacramento, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Wilkinson, a native of Vancouver, was acquired by the Giants in May from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for catcher Patrick Bailey.
The 6-foot-1 lefty has risen through the Giants’ minor league system this year, travelling through the Arizona Coast League all the way to the majors with stops in Double-A Richmond and Triple-A Sacramento.
He has only allowed 56 hits in 90 innings combined in all of his stops this season with a 3.40 earned-run average and 96 strikeouts.
Wilkinson was drafted in the 10th round by the Guardians in 2023 and has a 3-4 record in Triple-A this season with a 5.15 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 43.2 innings.
The 23-year-old also represented Canada at the 2026 World Baseball Classic, appearing in two games, recording two walks without allowing a hit in 2.2 innings.
