Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is out of the Toronto Blue Jays’ lineup for the second consecutive game on Tuesday as the star first baseman continues to work his way back from a right elbow contusion.
Lenyn Sosa is manning first base against the Miami Marlins in Guerrero’s absence and will bat ninth.

Guerrero, 27, has not played since Sunday after being hit by a pitch on his right elbow against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The five-time All-Star has resumed hitting since sustaining the injury, according to manager John Schneider, but is still dealing with soreness and is not yet ready to be inserted into the starting lineup.
“He hit today. He’s a little better,” Schneider said Tuesday via MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson. “He’s still pretty sore when he’s extending, so we’ll see how he is as the day goes and into tomorrow.”

Guerrero has slashed .287/.386/.372 with three home runs and 22 runs batted in across 53 games played this season. He has played in at least 156 games in each of the past five seasons, missing just 23 games since making his MLB debut in April of 2019.
The Blue Jays (25-29) dropped the opening game of their series against the Marlins 8-2 on Tuesday. They are 10.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays, who lead the AL East and have the best record in the American League.
