Newly acquired Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Spencer Arrighetti exited his rehab start with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons in the third inning after calling for the team’s trainer.
Arrighetti was making his first start in the Blue Jays organization after the team picked him up in a deadline day deal with the Houston Astros for outfielder Daulton Varsho.
After throwing a scoreless first two innings against the Norfolk Tides, Arrighetti retired Bryan Ramos to open the third and was in the middle of facing Enrique Bradfield Jr. when he was forced to exit the game.
The 26-year-old finished with a strikeout, two walks and threw 39 pitches, 19 for strikes over his abbreviated outing.
The Albuquerque, New Mexico native has been on the 15-day IL since July 25 with nerve irritation in his right foot.
Arrighetti started 17 games for the Astros this season, prior to the trade to Toronto, and posted a 7-5 record with a 4.60 ERA with 87 strikeouts over 88.0 innings.
He is in his third MLB season after making his debut in 2024 and has pitched in 53 games and thrown 268.1 total innings.
