Luis Urias’s road to a return to the Toronto Blue Jays lineup goes through Florida.
The team assigned the infielder to the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays on Thursday for a rehab assignment.
Urias, 29, was placed on the 10-day injured list on Aug. 7 with a right quad strain.
A native of Magdalena de Kino, Mexico, Urias was acquired by the Jays from the Arizona Diamondbacks in June. Prior to his injury, he appeared in 26 games, batting .250 with 13 hits, three home runs, eight runs batted in and an OPS of .803.
Now in his ninth big league season, Urias has previously spent time with the Athletics, Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox, Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres.
