Canadian Adam Macko will get the start Friday night in Baltimore as the Toronto Blue Jays continue their series against the Orioles, the team announced.
The 25-year-old has been effective in six outings for the Blue Jays this season and has yet to allow a run in 4.1 innings. Macko last pitched on Tuesday in Toronto’s 8-1 victory over the Miami Marlins.
Born in Slovakia, Macko moved to Alberta when he was 12 and later attended the Vauxhall Academy of Baseball. He was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the seventh round in 2019 and joined the Blue Jays in a November 2022 trade with the Mariners that sent outfielder Teoscar Hernandez to Seattle.
Macko has four strikeouts and four hits allowed in limited action at the major-league level this year. He also has a 4.50 ERA in 13 appearances at Triple-A Buffalo this season.
The Blue Jays (26-27) can get back to the .500 mark for the first time since April 4 with a win Friday night in the second game of their four-game set.
