Major League Baseball announced a three-game suspension for Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Chris Devenski on Tuesday.
The ban stems from Saturday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds in which Devenski was ejected for throwing at Sal Stewart.

Bucs manager Don Kelly also receives a one-game suspension.
Stewart led off the top of the seventh inning of the May 2 game with the Pirates leading 15-6. The rookie infielder called timeout before Devenski could deliver his first pitch, seemingly irking the righty. With his next pitch, Devenski threw inside, forcing Stewart to jump out of the way. Stewart was visibly angry.
“You’re soft as f--- for that,” Stewart said while pointing at Devenski.
Pirates catcher Henry Davis then attempted to calm Stewart down. After consulting with the rest of the crew, home plate umpire Willie Traynor ejected Devenski prompting Kelly to emerge from the dugout to protest.
Should Devenski not lodge an appeal, his suspension would begin on Tuesday night as the Pirates visit the Arizona Diamondbacks.
A 35-year-old native of Cerritos, CA, Devenski is in his 11th big league season and first with the Bucs. An All-Star in 2017, Devenski previously spent time with the New York Mets, Tampa Bay Rays, Los Angeles Angels, Philadelphia Phillies, Diamondbacks, and Houston Astros. Devenski won a World Series in 2017 as a member of the Astros.
