The Toronto Blue Jays called up left-handed pitching prospect Ricky Tiedemann on Saturday ahead of their game against the visiting New York Yankees.
In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Chase Lee was optioned to Triple-A.
In other lineup news, outfielder Daz Cameron had a locker in the Blue Jays’ clubhouse on Saturday, a day after Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was forced to leave Friday’s win against the Yankees after taking a knee to the head during a play at third base.
Manager John Schneider said the 27-year-old was in concussion protocol after the game. He was not in the starting lineup for Saturday’s game.
Toronto has improved to 60-64 on the season after winning seven of their last 10 games and sit one game behind the Detroit Tigers for the last wild-card spot in the American League.
Tiedemann was selected by the Blue Jays in the third round of the 2021 draft and was the top rated prospect in the Blue Jays system through the 2024 campaign, before undergoing Tommy John surgery.
The 6-foot-4 lefty missed the entire 2025 season while recovering from surgery and now sits No. 11 on the Blue Jays top prospect list and the fifth-highest pitcher, according to MLB.com.
Tiedemann had a slow start to the season and rehabbed in the Florida Complex League and Single-A Dunedin as he recovered from elbow soreness he sustained in the off-season while getting ready for the 2026 campaign.
The 23-year-old was activated off the minor league injury list on August 5 and made three starts in Triple-A Buffalo before getting his shot in the major leagues.
Tiedemann allowed four earned-runs and five hits in three innings pitched over his three appearances in Buffalo.
The 29-year-old Cameron signed a minor league deal with the Jays in early July and is hitting .367 with three home runs and 15 RBIs alongside a 1.045 OPS over 23 games with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons.
Cameron has 160 games of MLB experience with the Detroit Tigers, Athletics and Milwaukee Brewers, hitting .195 with one homer and three RBIs.
