Drew Rasmussen will take the hill for the Tampa Bay Rays as the team looks to again keep its World Series dream alive.
The All-Star righty will start Game 5 on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field a day after the Rays avoided a sweep with a 4-3 extra-innings victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. The Rays overturned a 3-2 deficit in the 12th on RBI singles from Jonny DeLuca and Ben Williamson.
Rasmussen, 31, will make his fifth start of the postseason. He last took the mound in Game 2. He was chased after 3.2 innings of work, having given up three earned runs on six hits. He struck out four and walked none. The Brewers won the game by a score of 5-4.
During the playoffs, Rasmussen is 2-0 with a 2.19 earned run average and WHIP of 0.973 over 24.2 innings pitched. He has 27 Ks to five walks.
Rasmussen will be opposed by fellow All-Star Jacob Misiorowski. The flamethrowing sophomore righty picked up the win in Game 1, surrendering one run over five innings. The 24-year-old will be making his fourth start.
“The Miz” is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA and 1.350 WHIP over 13.1 IP.
The Brewers, in the World Series for the first time since 1982, are looking to wrap up their first-ever championship.
