The Athletics have made an addition to their rotation ahead of the opening of spring training.
The New York Post’s Jon Heyman reports the team has signed righty Aaron Civale to a one-year deal.
The deal is reportedly worth $6 million with another $1.5 million available in incentives.
Civale, 30, played for three teams in 2025. In June, he was dealt from the Milwaukee Brewers to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for Andrew Vaughn. After being waived by the Pale Hose, he was claimed by the Cubs at the end of August.
In a combined 23 outings, Civale was 4-9 with an earned run average of 4.85 and a 1.265 WHIP over 102.0 innings of work in 2025. He struck out 88 batters and walked 33.
A native of East Windsor, CT, Civale previously spent time with the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians.
Originally taken with a third-round pick of the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft out of Northeastern, Civale heads into his eighth big league campaign. He joins an A’s staff that also features Luis Severino, Jeffrey Springs, Luis Morales, Jacob Lopez and Luis Medina.
