The Toronto Blue Jays made a trade Saturday evening, picking up infielder Luis Urias from the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to Mitch Bannon of The Athletic.
Bannon reports the deal is for cash, and Urias is expected to join the Blue Jays at the big-league level.
The 29-year-old has spent parts of eight seasons in MLB, playing stints for the San Diego Padres, Milwaukee Brewers, Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners and Athletics. He spent last season with the A’s and appeared in 96 games, slashing .230/.315/.338 with eight home runs and 25 RBI.
Urias has not played in the big leagues yet this season but is hitting .347 with an .893 OPS in 32 minor-league games this season. He joined the D-Backs organization in March of this year.
The Blue Jays enter Sunday’s series-finale in Chicago against the Cubs one game under .500 at 38-39. Dylan Cease will go for the Blue Jays against Shota Imanaga for the Cubs.
