The Toronto Blue Jays have made a trade ahead of their weekend series with the San Diego Padres.

ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez and Jeff Passan report the team has dealt reliever Tommy Nance to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for minor league third baseman Ryan Sprock.

Nance, 35, has made 32 appearances for the Jays this season. He’s 1-2 with a 3.82 earned run average and WHIP of 1.273 over 33.0 innings pitched. He’s struck out 34 batters and walked 13.

A righty from Long Beach, CA, Nance is in his fifth big league season and third with the Jays. He previously spent time with the Chicago Cubs and Miami Marlins.

For his career, Nance is 6-9 with a 4.25 ERA and 1.289 WHIP in 159.0 IP across 144 appearances.

The 21-year-old Sprock is hitting .297 with five home runs and 38 RBIs alongside an .855 OPS, 50 walks and 33 strikeouts over 67 games in Single-A this season (65 games in Single-A and two games in High-A).

Sprock was selected by the Twins in the eighth round of the 2025 MLB Draft.
