The Toronto Blue Jays are finalizing a deal to send outfielder Daulton Varsho to the Houston Astros, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Astros reporter Brian McTaggart reports that starter Spencer Arrighetti will be heading back to Toronto.
The 29-year-old centre fielder has hit .243with seven home runs and 26 runs batted in across 99 games this season.
Varsho entered this season in the final year of arbitration and is set to become a free agent at the end of the campaign.
Varsho was originally acquired by the Blue Jays in exchange for top catching prospect Gabriel Moreno ahead of the 2023 campaign. Over his past four seasons, he has repeatedly provided superstar-level play in the outfield, taking home a Gold Glove in the 2024 season.
While the lefty-hitting Varsho occasionally provided some pop for the Jays - he racked up 65 home runs over his tenure in Toronto, including 20 in just 71 games in 2025 - he was never able to put it all together.
In 747 career games split between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Blue Jays over his seven MLB seasons, Varsho has hit ..229 with 106 home runs and 321 RBI.
