The Kansas City Royals have reached a major-league deal with veteran outfielder Starling Marte, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

Feinsand adds the contract is pending a physical.

Marte, 37, is coming off a four-year, $78 million deal he signed with the New York Mets ahead of the 2022 season. He appeared in 98 games last year with the Mets, slashing .270/.335/.410 with nine home runs, 34 RBI and seven stolen bases.

The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native has played 14 seasons in MLB since making his debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates in July of 2012.

He spent his first eight seasons with Pittsburgh and also had stints with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Miami Marlins and Athletics before signing with the Mets.

He is a career .285 hitter and a two-time All-Star.
