The Detroit Tigers have traded superstar starting pitcher Tarik Skubal to the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to multiple reports on Saturday night.
Detroit will receive three prospects in outfielder Zyhir Hope, and pitchers River Ryan and Brady Smith, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Skubal, 29, has a 7-5 record this season with the Tigers with a 2.79 earned-run average and 116 strikeouts in 96.2 innings pitched.
The 6-foot-3 righty is on a one-year, $32 million contract and is scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the 2026 campaign.
Drafted in the ninth round by the Tigers in 2018, Skubal has a career 61-42 record with a 3.04 ERA and 1,005 strikeouts in his seven-season career.
Skbual won back-to-back Cy Young Awards and ERA titles in 2024 and 2025. He went 18-4 with a 2.39 ERA with 228 strikeouts in 2024 and followed that up by going 13-6 in 2025 with a 2.21 ERA and 241 strikeouts.
He starred for the Tigers during last season’s playoffs, highlighted by striking out 14 batters during Tigers’ 2-1 win over the Cleveland Guardians in Game 1 of the American League Wild Card Series. He also struck out 13 batters in the team’s heart-breaking 3-2 extra-innings loss to the Seattle Mariners in the winner-take-all Game 5 of the American League Divisional Series.
Skubal finished last year’s postseason with a 1-0 record with a 1.74 ERA with 36 strikeouts in three appearances.
