The Minnesota Twins avoided arbitration with their ace on Monday, the New York Post’s Jon Heyman reports.

The team agreed to a one-year, $6.2 million deal with righty Joe Ryan. The deal comes with a $13 million mutual option for 2027 with a $100,000 buyout.

A 29-year-old native of San Francisco, Ryan was an All-Star in 2025 for the first time in his five-year career. Last season, Ryan was 13-10 in 30 starts with an earned run average of 3.42 and WHIP of 1.035 over 171.0 innings pitched. He struck out 194 batters and walked 39.

Taken with a seventh-round pick in the 2018 MLB Amateur Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays out of Stanislaus State, Ryan was acquired by the Twins in a 2021 trade that saw Nelson Cruz head to the Rays.

For his career, Ryan is 46-36 in 114 starts with an ERA of 3.79 and WHIP of 1.063 in 641.1 IP.
