The Washington Nationals have traded infielder Luis Garcia Jr. to the New York Yankees, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Garcia, 26, is batting .283 with 23 home runs and 76 RBI with the Nationals this season.
The 6-foot-1, left-handed bat is on a one-year, $6.875 million contract and has one year of arbitration remaining before he can become a free agent after the 2027 campaign.
Originally signed by the Nationals in 2016 as an international free agent, Garcia has a career .268 batting average with 81 home runs and 345 RBI in seven MLB seasons.
